Two meetings rescheduled – now 23rd March and 6th April

Please note that our meeting originally scheduled for Thursday 30th March has been brought forward to Thursday 23rd March owing to a prior booking by The Wetherby Musical Theatre Group who are performing that evening. Just for interest, the play is They Call It Murder by Bettine Manktelow and it is not a musical.

Our meeting scheduled for Wednesday 12th April has also been brought forward to Thursday 6th April. Our remaining dates this season are as follows:

Wetherby success at Vale of York Area contests

Two golds and two silvers – a good afternoon’s work for Wetherby Speakers Club at the Vale of York Area contests on Sunday 5th February.

Chris Clissitt won both the speech and evaluation contests and will represent the Club and Area at the Eastern District contests on 5th March at the Bridge Inn Walshford. His speech was entitled “Nominative Determinism”, while Jocelyn Brooks did the club proud, taking the runners up spot with her excellent speech “An Indian Love Story.”

 

John Holian was runner up to Lindsay Dutch of York in the topics contest. Lindsay was also runner up in the evaluation contest.
