Our final meeting of the season takes place at 7.45pm for 8pm on Thursday 30th May 2013 at The Days Inn at Wetherby Services at Junction 46 of the A1M.
The programme has not yet been finalised but will no doubt give a chance for all to speak and have fun!
The club will then take a break over the summer, restarting on Thursday 12th September 2013.

For the first time ever all the Vale of York Area representatives in the District Competitions are from Wetherby Speakers Club. It would be great if any of our members could attend to support Chris Clissitt (Speech), Neil Wilson (Evaluation) and Niki Boersma (Topics) in their endeavours to reach the national finals.
The contests take place at 1pm for 1.30 pm on Sunday 17th February at the Bridge Inn Hotel, Walshford, Near Wetherby, LS22 5HS. The contests will be followed by the Eastern District AGM
Our next meeting is a joint meeting with York RI and Bradford Speakers Clubs. It takes place at the York Railway Institute at 7.30pm on Thursday 24th January.
It is a good chance to speak in front of a different audience and maybe learn a trick or two from our neighbouring clubs.
The annual Charter Anniversary Dinner has been restored and brought even further forward, even beating the fireworks this year! It takes place at The Bridge Inn, Walshford on Friday 2nd November at 7.30 for 8pm.

We start with the AGM followed by speeches or topics or both. We may even have a visit from from our erstwhile District President, Lindsay Dutch, who was elevated to the position of National Vice President at the National Conference in Cardiff in April. Lindsay will hand over the chains of office for the Eastern District Presidency to John Holian who has agreed to take the role for the 2012/13 season and awaits the ceremonial anointment…..

The programme has not yet been announced but is bound to include the usual ingredients of great speeches, helpful evaluations, challenging and enjoyable topics and a chance for all to speak and have fun!
We also welcome Peter Wyatt to present the Trevor and Sheila Wyatt trophy to Chris Clissitt for winning the District Evalution contest . Trevor was a member of Wetherby Speakers Club for many years and twice past president. Sheila was also a good friend to the Club having been a frequent visitor to meetings and dinners and acting as a judge for our club contests on many occasions. Sadly Trevor died in 2010 and Sheila in January this year.
The trophy was created in their memory and will be presented by their son, Peter Wyatt. Naturally we are very pleased that on its first outing it should go to Wetherby Speakers Club!
The District Conference and Speech, Evaluation and Topics Contests will now take place on Sunday 19th February, not Saturday 18th.

Our next meeting at The Days Inn at Wetherby Services at Junction 46 of the A1M features the annual Club Evaluation Contest. This is a chance to progress to Area, District and possibly the National final in Cardiff next April.
The meeting is the first of the New Year, and takes place at 7.45pm for 8pm on Thursday 5th January 2012.

The last meeting of the 2010/11 season takes place on Thursday 26th May at our usual venue, the Ramada Javis in Wetherby. The theme is Powerpoint. There will be an educational lecture on using PowerPoint, followed by speeches which make use of it. The speeches will be evaluated on how PowerPoint skills have been used.
Wetherby Speakers Club AGM takes place at the Ramada Jarvis Hotel on Thursday 12th May at 8.00pm when the new commitee for the 2011/12 season will be installed.
The ASC Annual Conference takes place at the Edinburgh Marriott Hotel from Friday 15th to Sunday 17th April.
Our own Terry Ryan will compete in the Speech Contest on Saturday afternoon. The Vale of York Area is also represented in both the Topics Contest on Friday evening and the Evaluation Contest on Sunday morning in the shape of Lindsay Dutch of York RI SC. A great showing by Vale of York, which must be one of the smallest areas in the ASC.
