Events

The Area Speech, Evaluation and Topics Contests will now take place on Sunday 15th January, not Saturday 14th. 

 The venue is the York Railway Institute, the usual meeting place for the York RI Speakers Club.  Time to be confirmed.

Our next meeting at The Days Inn at Wetherby Services at Junction 46 of the A1M features the annual Club Evaluation Contest. This is a chance to progress to Area, District and possibly the National final in Cardiff next April.

The meeting is the first of the New Year, and takes place at 7.45pm for 8pm on Thursday 5th January 2012.

The Club now takes a break over the summer, recommencing on Thursday 8^th September 2011.  Click on the  schedule” link for provisional dates for the 2011/12 season.

The last meeting of the 2010/11 season takes place on Thursday 26th May at our usual venue, the Ramada Javis in Wetherby. The theme is Powerpoint. There will be an educational lecture on using PowerPoint, followed by speeches which make use of it. The speeches will be evaluated on how PowerPoint skills have been used.

Wetherby Speakers Club AGM takes place at the Ramada Jarvis Hotel on Thursday 12th May at 8.00pm when the new commitee for the 2011/12 season will be installed.

The ASC Annual Conference takes place at the Edinburgh Marriott Hotel from Friday 15th to Sunday 17th April.

Our own Terry Ryan will compete in the Speech Contest on Saturday afternoon. The Vale of York Area is also represented in both the Topics Contest on Friday evening and the Evaluation Contest on Sunday morning in the shape of Lindsay Dutch of York RI SC. A great showing by Vale of York, which must be one of the smallest areas in the ASC.

The annual after dinner speech contest will take place at our usual venue, The Bridge Inn, Walshford, but one week later than previously advertised. The new date is Friday 18th March 2011.

The Vale of York Area Contests take place at  the usual venue, St Aelred’s in York on Saturday 15th January 2011. We expect the start tme to be 1pm.
