President Neil Wilson opened the latest meeting of Wetherby Speakers Club. The meeting was chaired by Howard Herbert who introduced two speeches. Peter Wilson gave an educational speech about various ways of using notes when speaking. Scott Stephenson then gave a fascinating speech about the parallel lives of two giants of the music industry who were both born in the same year 70 years ago – Cliff Richard and John Lennon.
The speeches were evaluated by Chris Clissitt and Peter Nellist who gave constructive and helpful comments on each Speaker’s performance. Jeff Denton then set speakers the challenging task of speaking off the cuff for two minutes on the theme of famous books and their authors. John Holian evaluated the topics session and Neil Wilson gave his views on the evening as a whole in his role as General Evaluator.
